Hong Kong Trip '15 - Part 1
I finally visited Hong Kong, after much anticipation I finally get to visit this over-crowded island that people claimed to have wonderful food and night view.
The timing was perfect, my buddies came on the weekend before this trip and my work started after this trip! Perfect!
So I wear on my excitement and took the flight to Hong Kong. I couldn't even sleep on the plane! Surprise surprise, caused I am a sleeper, anywhere everywhere. Now, could you imagine my excitement for this trip?
I heard Ney said, the weather would be unbearably hot and humid. So I was thinking, cheh, Singapore is hot and humid, so is Malaysia, I went through this, 没有在怕. Then, once I stepped out of the MTR station, I understand Ney's warning. I never ever in my life feel this way.
Let me try to put the feeling into words. It feels like you walked into a sauna, but this sauna is the whole Hong Kong... My description skill is so poor now I know... And this make hugging very unpleasant, as well as wearing long jean pants.
I have proof on how humid the weather is! This photo was my first ever camera photo I taken on this trip and it fogs because I just came out from a full blast air-conditioned hotel. I think this will give you a hint of the level of humidity of Hong Kong summer.
So, on my first day at Hong Kong, I had to walk around alone, Ney had to work. So I just casually walked around TST area and explored. I didn't have any particular plans in my mind, but I had a secret wish. I wished I would bump into a shooting scene or even bump into celebrity. Lol. As they said, Hong Kong is a very small island and I watched a lot of TVBs (TVBs mean Hong Kong dramas). But, nope, no luck at all.
My focus of this trip was to eat and take photos (mainly building). These images were taken when I walked around in the day. Most of the images I taken were buildings, cause for me personally, these buildings represent Hong Kong.
I also came across this block where they have this advertisement pasted on the wall to sell sex. I was shocked and felt like reality just hit me on the face again. There are places where this industry is so easy accessed and what is worse, they are placed in the middle of a neighbourhood. I might sound 'kampong' or closed minded, but I just don't agree this should be around at the centre of a neighbourhood.
I saw this old granny folding paper boxes besides the road and she was not the only one I saw. It's pretty hard to see. Living in Hong Kong is tough enough with the high cost of living, crowded environment, fast paced lifestyle, it is so much tougher when you are old and poor. It's heart breaking when you see this, and not able to do anything to help.
I also had a chance to witness a protest on the street. I have no understanding on this belief, but I think I saw something similar in Perth. This wasn't the only spot they protest.
Taxi and mini buses of Hong Kong.

Bonjour is seen everywhere just like Sasa.
女人街, a shopping district.
Very signature Hong Kong street style, with all the signs in the middle of the street. Big or small with very bright colours to attract attention.

Parking station.
Garbage wall besides the road.
My first wanton mee!

An old building that looks like straight out from the Studio Ghibli's film.
