Book review: Calling Mrs Christmas

I'm currently reading Calling Mrs Christmas by Carole Matthews. Even though Christmas still few months away from now.

Price: RM 35.90

Cover: Looking very Christmassy, and it has snow. So it is a white Christmas, picture perfect for me.

Where: MPH

Why: I love Christmas, and the blurb says it is about a girl who draws on her love of Christmas and starts a business that helps people to organise their Christmas. That's the part I am really interested of. I love how a story tells how a woman ventures into her dreams and be successful about it, I love the process, I like to picture the scenes when the story continues, it gives me hope and puts a smile on my face whenever I am imagining if that is me. Well, the story continues with a plot that twists the happy scenery to something more interesting which can be read on the blurb as well.

What I like: This is a story happens in the UK, I love even of the thought about London or UK in general. At the beginning of the story, Cassie, the Mrs Christmas, who was unemployed for a period of time and living on her savings and her very lovely boyfriend, Jim. Jim is a prisoner officer based in the Young Offender's unit who apparently expressed as big and bear-like which would let me think of .. hmm... a very safe and secure man. And the story continues on how she gets inspired to start her own business and since she loves Christmas and as we know British start their Christmas preparation very early, and this gives her this idea to help people in preparing for their Christmas. Services ranging from cards writing, minced pies baking to throwing a party businesses. How I wish I can do this too!! And most importantly, at the end the story ends with a happy ending which is a MUST to me.

What I don't like: The story has a twist in the middle, Cassie, fall in love with her multi-millionaire client, Carter who brought her and his children to a Lapland Christmas vacation which is organised by Cassie. Imagine, just 4 of them, like one happy family which is not the case. And worst part is when they kissed at the end of the trip and Carter asks her to leave the ever-so-loving Jim and move in with him who they have just spent the last 4 days on a vacation together. The frustrating part is Cassie actually considers to really give up on Jim who they have been together for years and have went through ups and downs with and who was waiting her patiently at home and has tried his best to help her on her business while she is away. This part really aches my heart, I can feel my shoulders shaking from disappointment and anger. Tears are filling up my eyes with so much emotions (just like how Cassie does in the book).

Overall: I like the book, although the story is a little bit predictable in the middle part, however the ending part is actually out of my expectation, or maybe I should have guessed it right but just so afraid that it might make me sad. For the price, I think is acceptable as it is cheaper than buying in pounds, it costs £7.99.

I'm really into reading for the past few months. Since March I have finished reading 4 books, I really wish I can finish one book per month. And probably continue to do something like this for every book I read. I hope whoever is reading this is enjoying as much as I writing this.
