Reflection on my reading: Relentless by John Bevere

Before I forget all the awesome things I have read from the book by John Bevere- RELENTLESS. I want to write it down, and hopefully whoever reads it will be encouraged as well.
My plan was to finish it during my 1-month winter holiday, but apparently I was too bored with everything by the end of my winter break, I stopped reading. However, I still managed to finish it today!! Hurray, better late than never. Right?

So, after reading this book, I would say my faith in Christ has increased, and some of my doubts and questions about Christianity have been answered as well. Honestly, after reading this book, I'm more passionate with my life and my serving in His church. Being a Christian since young isn't an easy commitment, we see things, high and low, dark and holy and etc. To be able to stay in faith always isn't an easy task as well, especially there are so many temptations out there, and crooked truths. My faith has been challenged very frequently, I guess because I always sink into my thoughts very easily and have too much emotions for the world. So, I blame God on several occasions when I experienced or heard or saw bad things happened. Well, good news is all my doubts have been answered through reading this book.

3 main things I have been reminded and taught in RELENTLESS are:

1. This is a fallen world, King of Hell has it all in his hands.
Why there are so many unfortunate things happen around the world? Why so many innocent people get killed every single day? Why there are babies and children and women are being badly treated everyday or even every hour? Why there are hunger, death, wars and diseases happening everyday? All because the Satan is ruling the world ("the ruler of this world" John 16:11; "the god of this age" 2 Corinthians 4:4; "the prince of the power of the air" Ephesians 2:2). "The thief's purpose if to steal and kill and destroy."
I was reminded again that God's purpose is to prosper me but not to harm me ( Jesus says "My purpose is to give life in all its fullness" John 10:10).

2. Building the Kingdom of God in everyday life.
I'm surprised about my role and responsibilities in this world to be so closely connected with my after life in Heaven. I've been taught to love God and serve His people, but I always take it as a duty and not willingly  most importantly I never sees what awards it brings. John Bevere shares in this book about our rewards in Heaven when the time comes, when our works will be testified through fire. Even my motives and intentions of my work. I really want to receive the praise from God himself, "Well done, my faithful servant." (even thinking about it makes me tear).

3. God's grace is enough for me.
"My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak." 2 Corinthians 12:9
Last most important lesson I learned is, I finally understand what it meant by God's grace is sufficient for me. Grace = Power. God's grace = God's power. It's just like what the scripture above stated. I'm a very weak person, I've to admit, I'm very vulnerable inside,I might look confident or great outside but I'm a Nervous Nellie. However, after reading this book, I now clearly know my weakness is my strength, because of my Nervous Nellie personality, I'm given a HUGE open door to always rely on God, to always ask for more power or grace to continue on. For some people I know, they are so prideful that they think they can handle everything by themselves and need no God in their life, this is when they miss out the power given freely by God to do GREATER things, like mission impossible in their life.

John Bevere also has reminded me that Grace is not just salvation for us. It's like the hammer of Thor or an Iron man suit that make us stronger and more powerful. In Romans 5:17, "Grace is not merely a God-given cover up of our sin. It empowers us to live like Jesus, to rule in this life by manifesting heaven's authority and power to change our world of influence."

If you have doubts in life, PLEASE take the initiative to read a good Christian book or talk to anyone who you know has the wisdom about it, or even pray and talk to God himself and you will find an answer. This is what I have learned too, why keep the doubts to yourself and be bitter about it. Just take the step out and find answer for it.

I hope I encourage you in some ways.
I'm moving on to read another book now, hope I get to finish it soon and do another reflection on it.
